JEANDRE DU PREEZ
This bubbly 18-year-old from Jim Fouché High School in Bloemfontein was blown away by her makeover. ‘I looked like a completely different person! I was amazed.’
Jeandre says…
‘Linda did a really good job and I loved what they did with my hair. Everything was exactly the way I wanted it to look. The experience taught me about make-up and the importance of both inner and outer beauty.’
JEANDRE’S LOOK
SKIN
To start, Linda chose Maybelline Fit Me foundation in 210 (R139.95) for Jeandre’s skin. ‘I wanted to give her allover coverage, but still keep her natural glow.’ She touched up any problem areas with a little concealer.
EYES
To emphasise Jeandre’s striking blue eyes, Linda used Maybelline Eye Studio Wet Technology eyeshadow in Bronze Drama (R129.95) to give them shape and definition. A few coats of Maybelline One by One mascara (R109.95) added extra length and clump-free definition to her lashes.
LIPS
Linda wanted a very subtle kiss of colour for Jeandre’s lips and opted for Maybelline Colour Sensational Pearls in Kiss Pearl (R104.95), for just a hint of pearly shine.
SHAFEEQA ESSOP
18-year-old Shafeeqa from Al-Aqsa High in Gauteng was in awe of the magic the team worked with her makeover. ‘I was overwhelmed by how stunning I looked. I couldn’t have imagined how impressive the end result would be.’
Shafeeqa says…
‘I absolutely loved my smokyeye look. It was very different but at the same time it really suited me. I now know a bit more about applying makeup after learning about the different brushes and types of eyeshadow.’
SHAFEEQA’S LOOK
SKIN
Using a foundation br ush, Linda applied Maybelline Fit Me foundation in 350 (R139.95) to Shafeeqa’s skin. ‘I applied the foundation from the forehead downwards. This way you are less likely to smudge anything you have done, and you get a perfect finish,’ says Linda.
EYES
‘Shafeeqa has amazing eyes, so I created a smoky cat’s eye using Master Drama kohl liner in Black (R89.95) and smudged it into a slight wing shape. This is a clever, easy way to create a dramatic dark eye, keeping unwanted spill under the eyes to a minimum.’ Linda wanted to add extra volume and length to Safeeqa’s lashes, so she chose Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies (R109.95) for dramatic lashes with no clumps.
LIPS
On Shafeeqa’s lips Linda used Maybelline Superstay 24 HR lip colour in Dark Amber (R129.95). ‘Not only does it have a slight shimmer, it’s also longlasting so Shafeeka didn’t have to worry about touching up her lips during all the fun.’
CLERRISA WOOD
‘I really felt like a star,’ said this 18-year-old from Bloubergrant High School in Cape Town. ‘I loved the experience and I felt beautiful!’
Clerrisa says…
‘I learnt a lot from the experience – how to achieve different looks for different occasions and how to pose for pictures. I enjoyed every second and I was in love with my hairstyle, it was so interesting.’
CLERRISA’S LOOK
SKIN
‘I used Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 310 (R139.95) on Clerrisa. Because this foundation is light and buildable, I could layer it for more coverage where she needed it. To keep shine away for the duration of the night and set the foundation, I dusted Maybelline Fit Me powder in 320 (R134.95) over her face,’ says Linda. Not only does powder combat shine, it also helps other products, such as blusher or bronzer, to adhere to your skin better.
EYES
Linda dusted Clerissa’s eyes with Maybelline Eye Studio Wet technology eyeshadow in Blue Drama (R129.95) followed by a dash of Master Drama kohl pencil in Black (R89.95) to add definition and drama. ‘These pencils are great because they
are soft enough to blend, but once they are in position, they’ll last all night long,’ says Linda.
LIPS
A slick of Maybelline Colour Sensational Crème Gloss in I Love Lilac (R104.95) made for the prettiest pout. ‘It’s the perfect size to pop into her
