My boyfriend and I were together for almost two years but he left me for another girl without telling me it’s over. I spoke to him and he said he still loves me but I always see him with her. I have tried to forget him but I can’t. Please help. – Anisha*
Sam says: What a horrible, confusing, painful situation you find yourself in. It never makes sense when someone you love leaves without telling you why, and it hurts even worse when you find out they have left to be with someone else. It’s a betrayal and a shock that can leave you feeling bereft for months, trying to process and under-stand how it all happened. What I’m saying is, there are no quick fixes to healing a broken heart. Time, being gentle with yourself, writing down all your feelings in a journal and getting support from your friends and family will eventually get you there. Don’t contact him again; he’s proved he cannot be trusted and has not explained anything so far anyway. All he’s done is confuse you. And if he’s saying he loves you while he’s with the other girl, you really have to wonder who he’s lying to more: you, her or himself.*Names have been changed
